On Monsters and Scapegoats
“We live in a time of Monsters”, Jonathan Pageau tells us, in his now classic YouTube lecture: ‘Pentecostal for the zombie apocalypse’. Pageau is not promoting a moral panic—he wants us to be aware of the monstrous within ourselves. Furthermore, every epoch has its monsters—there are contemporary but also perennial monsters. Fear of the freak, the uncanny, the deformed—of the monstrous in all its forms—is as old as time itself. Evoking the monster—what we most fear—is a salutary, even religious practice; remembering the monstrous helps keep us on the straight and narrow path. Moreover, it is good to know what the monsters of our times are telling us—mostly about ourselves.

THE INTEGRAL STAGE
The Meta-Podcast (Ep. 37: Tom Amarque)
It was fun to just lay back and let him do the work. For a change I was the interviewee, here for the podcast "THE INTEGRAL STAGE" ... I rushed somewhat clumsy through the overview on my books, but in order to get a flavour for them it maybe does the trick.
About Parallax
Parallax is a European online media platform offering constructive and fresh perspectives for the post-post modern age. We publish essays and podcasts, webinars and lectures, and are a hub for original and heterodox thinking.
The word ‘parallax’ stems from the old greek παράλλαξις parállaxis, which means to shift the viewpoint of the observer. The name suggests psychoactive and alternative sense-making, as opposed to mainstream narratives and ideologies.
Through our work with various European ‘digital tribes’, we create media and Bildung (education), and promote social, cognitive and spiritual development. Moreover, we aim to provide a European counterpoint to the dominant anglo-saxon narratives.
